CANADA-RED ONE

During September I´ve been in Canada, working at the shooting of a shortfilm in which I was in charge of the Special Effects and the designing of a few fireflies. I´ve had the chance to work with the RED ONE, and I am very pleased with the results. I was surprised about how easy it was to work with the Compact Flash cards and with all the workflow that´s been designed around the camera. I´m finally done with my participation on this project and I am now waiting for its release. I will post it as soon as I get the OK from the directors of the shortfilm.

Durante el mes de Septiembre estuve en Canadá, trabajando en el rodaje de un corto en el cual estuve a cargo de los efectos especiales. Finalmente he terminado mi participación en este proyecto y estoy esperando el lanzamiento del corto. Subiré algo de material ni bien tenga el OK de los directores del corto.

TANGER

During the last two years I have been developing a script for a feature film that takes place both in Tanger and Paris.
Not long ago I´ve had the chance to travel to both cities. I´ve been in Paris before, but it was my first time in Tanger. I´ve had written a lot about it and I needed to breathe it in and experience it in person.

I traveled with my father. We hired a guide, Alí, and he took us through the narrow streets of the Soco, introduced us to his friends and explained us a lot of concepts we were completely unaware of.

I was overwhelmed by Morocco´s culture, textures, nuances, history... I took over 600 photographs to use as reference, and wrote down every sensation I felt during those days.
Traveling with my father, a consummate artist who is now starting a series of oil paintings from Morocco, lead me to see things in a more pictorial way and to pay more attention to colors and textures. We spent a lot of time sitting in bars´ terraces, drawing sketches of the people and the world outside.

That, together with my recent impressions from Paris, and the contrasts between both places, helped me to develop the script in a whole new direction. I am now even considering turning it into a graphic novel, prior than the making of a feature film... Let´s see how that turns out.




Durante los últimos dos años estuve desarrollando el guión de un largometraje que transcurre en Tánger y París.
Hace no mucho tuve la oportunidad de viajar a ambas ciudades... había estado en París en otras ocasiones, pero era mi primera vez en Tánger. Había escrito mucho acerca de ella y necesitaba vivirla personalmente.
Viajé con mi padre. Contratamos un guía, Alí, quién nos llevó por las estrechas calles del Soco, nos presentó a sus amigos y nos explicó muchos conceptos que desconocíamos completamente.
Muchos aspectos de Marruecos me sorprendieron gratamente: la cultura, las texturas, los matices, la historia... He tomado más de 600 fotografías para usar de referencia, y anoté todas las sensaciones que me invadieron durante esos días.

Viajar con mi padre, un consumado artista que está por comenzar una serie de óleos de Marruecos, me hizo ver las cosas en un modo más pictórico, y prestar más atención a los colores y las texturas. Pasamos mucho tiempo sentados en las terrazas de los bares, bocetando a la gente que pasaba y al escenario en el que nos encontrábamos.

Eso, junto con mi reciente impresión de París, y los contrastes entre ambos lugares, me ayudaron a desarrollar el guión en una dirección totalmente distinta. Ahora incluso estoy considerando transformarlo en una graphic novel antes de transformarlo en un largometraje... Ya veremos en que resulta eso.
